Bishkek has only three main large parks: Molodezhniy, Ataturk and Karagachevaya Rosha. This was stated today at a meeting of the working committee of the City Council on working out the Concept of capital's green economy development.
Previously, Karagachevaya Rosha park occupied 215.69 hectares. But the state act on its borders has not been registered, and later on a part of the park has been just built up. So, the total green area amounted to only 142 hectares. Now Bishkekglavarhitektura conducts an inventory of all green areas of the city for their documenting. Violations have been revealed in the protected zone of the Small Chu Canal.
"One of the areas of the commission's work is determining of the boundaries of parks not to let take away what has left. We are seriously concerned by the fact that the area of urban green spaces is reducing" the deputy of Bishkek City Council Valentina Lisnichenko outlined.
The working committee includes members of the City Council, representatives of Zelenstroy Municipal Enterprise, Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Forest Research Institute, environmentalists, dendrologists, independent experts and civil society activists.
