Coordination Council for Macroeconomic and Investment Policy under the government has considered the project of modernization of Bishkek lighting system.
According to the press service of the Cabinet, the project "Modernization of the public lighting system of Bishkek city" in the amount of $11.1 million will be financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
"Currently, the capital's lighting system is energy-consuming and requires modernization. Only 24,500 out of 50,000 light spots set in the Soviet times are working. Realization and implementation of the first half of the project will reduce energy consumption and the burden on municipal electricity supply," the mayor Albek Ibraimov said.
The project shall pass internal procedures, including the ratification in the Parliament.
