Homeless shelters to open in Bishkek

A number of shelters for homeless will open in Bishkek on November 15, 2009. An appropriate order has been signed by the mayor of the capital, Nariman Tyuleev, on Wednesday.

The shelters will be opened in every district of the city. “Homeless will be able to stay there from November 15, 2009 to March 31, 2010. Chiefs of the district administrations have been charged with organization of one hot meal a day for temporary dwellers. Besides, injection drug users, alcohol addicts, ex-prisoners and TB infected will be provided with social support,” the report said.

Therewith, chiefs of Bishkek territorial departments of the Obligatory Health Insurance Fund and Social Development Administration have been entrusted with providing timely medical and social services to the homeless Kyrgyzstanis.
