Russia, Kyrgyzstan work out economical cooperation program

10/12-2008 14:29, Bishkek – 24.kg news agency , By Daniyar KARIMOV
Kyrgyzstan and Russia are working out a program of future economic coopertion, Victor Spassky director of the CIS economic cooperation department under the Russian Ministry of Economic Development told during the conference on Economic Cooperation between Central Asian States and the Russian Federation: Situation, Challenges and Prospects, that ran in Bishkek Wednesday.

The elaborated program is expected to be put into practice since 2010. The similar drafts are successfully entered between Russia and Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan.

The conference participants believe that Central Asian states should strengthen integration processes, namely in economic ties, which is believed to help the CIS member states overcome financial and economic crises effectively.

“There are difficulties and challenges on the way to closer integration, such as customs barriers, taxation difficulties, lack of well-developed transport infrastructure,” the deputy head of Kyrgyz Ministry of Economic Development and Trade Aziz Aaliev said.

Spassky in turn also mentioned integration challenges. According to him a number of Central Asian states – Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan use double standards of excise policy, which backpedals integration.
