World Bank issues $12M for Bishkek, Osh development

World Bank will issue $12 million for infrastructure development of the cities of Osh and Bishkek, Mars Sakkaraev, director of the Kyrgyz investment councils’ developemtn agency (ARIS) said in his report in Parliament on Monday.

The project is called to repair the roads, improve water systems and infrastructure of residential areas. “5 million of the issued amount will go for construction of 21 kilometers of roads in 7 micro-districts. The funds allotted by the World Bank make only 55 percent from the general budget, while the city administration gives 35 percent and the government – 10 percent,” Sakkaraev said.

As part of the project the Osh and Bishkek administrations plan to computerize the document control process.

Members of Parliament found the director’s report satisfactory.
