Kazakhstan to step out of Central Asian energy system

Kazakhstan intends to step out of the Central Asian energy system, the Kazakh media reported.

According to the Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC), Kazakh energy system is able to provide the internal suppliers and support Kyrgyzstan.

“Energy is constantly taken out of the Common CA energy system, namely by Tajikistan. Imbalance of energy production and consumption may overburden the transit line of the North-South. This, in turn, may lead to electricity rationing and possible cascade failure of the system, affecting both Kazakhstan and Russia,” KEGOC said.
