World Bank to take part in reforming of Kyrgyz economy sectors

The World Bank plans to take an active part in reforming of the Kyrgyz priority economy sectors, such as energy, state finances management, social security and education, press service of the Kyrgyz government reported.

The initiative was proposed by the World Bank as a part of new program Actions in support of development policy for 2010-2013.

The bank efforts are supplemented with the strategy of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) which promotes growth of small and medium enterprises, development of finance sector, investments in financial institutions, real sector, mining industry and agrarian business.

“The IFC has invested in financial, mining, agriculture and real sectors about $80 million since 1996. As of October 2009, the IFC portfolio in Kyrgyzstan makes up $25.4 million and includes investments in six companies and some prepared projects,” the press service said.
