Kyrgyz leader attends Organization of Islamic Conference’ summit

Kurmanbek Bakiev, the President of Kyrgyzstan, is taking part in an economic summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) that runs in Istanbul these days (Turkey).

The summit is attended by top-officials of 53 countries, whereof 14 presidents, 6 premiers and 2 vice prime ministers. This is the first time the Kyrgyz leader pays visit to the event.

Bakiev is expected to deliver a speech on activation of the Islamic countries’ counteraction to the global recession and its affects, further development of the Islamic financial principles and implementation of joint investment projects.

At the moment, OIC includes 57 member states of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
