Trade relations between Kyrgyzstan, U.S. chaotic, study shows

Trade relations between Kyrgyzstan and the United States of America are fragmentary and ‘chaotic’, a study by the M-vector company showed.

Trade turnover between the two countries has double-sized over the last couple of years, but it is early to talk about substantial relations. Bilateral deals remain minor, as the U.S. take only 0.5 – 0.8 percent of the Kyrgyz general turnover.

Kyrgyzstan, for years of its membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO), supplied 190 commodity items to the U.S., whereof only 12 were stable. In particular it is nonorganic goods, textile, leather, wool products.

The experts believe in order to stimulate market relations, Kyrgyzstan needs a large-scale information campaign to be carried out among businessmen, as most of the Kyrgyz manufacturers simply are not aware of privileges the U.S. provide.
