16.9 tons of gold mined in Kyrgyzstan in 2009

Kyrgyzstan produced 16.9 tons of gold for the amount of 46.5 billion soms in 2009. The statement was voiced by the Prime-Minister in his annual report on the government’s activity for 2009.

According to the report, the prognostic indicator was 18.2 tons (41.3 billion soms). Kyrgyzaltyn mined 0.6 tons that is 184 kilograms less than indicator in 2008. Kumtor mining Company’s share in industry continues to remain high amounting to 46.8 percent. Nevertheless, gold mining decreased here too by 6.4 percent. Nominal growth of gold mining is ensured by means of price factor for 31 percent. Thus, if in 2008 the average annual price for 1 ounce of gold was $848, then it increased by 21 percent and amounted to $1025 in 2009.
