Uzbek border guards injured a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, the Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
According to the service, a Kyrgyz citizen was injured in Gulistan area of Yangi-Kurgan district, Namangan region of Uzbekistan. He illegally crossed the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border. Uzbek border guards noticed the Kyrgyzstani 250-300 meters away from the border and used weapons. As a result, a Kyrgyz citizen was shot in the thigh and was taken to the hospital in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Border representatives of two countries held a telephone conversation in connection with the incident. The Uzbek authorities reported that the condition of the citizen of Kyrgyzstan is satisfactory and he would be returned to his homeland after the recovery.
