The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has congratulated the head of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev with the completion of the election campaign in the country's parliament, which was held according to all the canons and traditions of democratic countries. RIA Novosti reports.
"Thank you for coming and accepting the invitation. First I would like to congratulate you on the successful completion of the parliament election campaign. And even not on its results, although they are favorable to you, to those political forces that you support, but congratulate on the way they were held - at the highest level, according to the canons and traditions of democratic countries, and in compliance with all the requirements of international organizations. I wish you, the new composition of the deputy corps, and the whole Kyrgyzstan prosperity and fulfillment of the plans that you have set," Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Almazbek Atambayev, which took place in Sochi.
The head of the Kyrgyz Republic noted that the parliamentary campaign also showed a new level of relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. "I think our relations have reached a completely new stage, and it is noteworthy that during the elections none of political parties has used anti-Russian slogans or anti-Russian rhetoric. This is a striking contrast comparing with the situation five years ago; it shows that there is a completely different relationship between our countries," Atambayev said.
"This is really very good, and creates favorable conditions for the further development of our relations - both bilateral and in the framework of international organizations," Vladimir Putin agreed.
Almazbek Atambayev noted that started discussion of bilateral relations issues with the President of the Russian Federation the day before. "And today we can continue our discussion," he said.
According to preliminary results, SDPK won the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan. In total, the new composition of the Parliament will include six parties.
