Uzbekistan steps out of regional energy system

Uzbekistan has stepped out of the regional energy system, which united the republic with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Russian information sources reported.

Uzbekistan explains its switch to isolated work by necessity to “provide energy security for the country.” Official Tashkent said in such a way it tried to protect internal energy system from external trespassing and illegal takeoff of energy that is often imputed to Tajikistan.
