Kyrgyzstan ranks among least crisis affected economies in CIS

Kyrgyzstan ranks among least crisis affected economies among the Commonwealth of Independent States, PRIME-TASS news agency quoted as Vladimir Sokolin, Chairman of the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee said.

“The 2009 recession has split the Commonwealth’s members into two groups: Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan with positive economic development and the rest, considerably affected by the crisis,” Sokolin said.

Russia, Ukraine and Armenia were mostly hit by the recession. “Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine highly depend on external markets,” the chairman said pointing attention to “special political situation in Ukraine,” which has only worsened economic problems of the country.
