"All the countries are actively looking for its uniqueness for the development of tourism, we must also find our own brand," the Prime Minister Temir Sariev said at the presentation of the Tourism Development Program in Kyrgyzstan for 2016-2020 years.
According to him, the amount of trips is growing from year to year. "At least 1.2 billion people travel around the world for a year, revenue from tourism makes up $ 1.5 trillion," the Prime Minister said.
As the Prime Minister noted, Kyrgyzstan has a huge tourism potential. "We have unique alpine lakes - Issyk-Kul, Son-Kul, Chatyr-Kul, Sary Chelek, have mountain peaks which are the third highest after the Himalayas and Pamir. Enilchek glacier is of global value, there are unique walnut forests in Arstanbap," Temir Sariev stressed.
According to him, the introduction of a visa-free regime with 66 countries brings its results. "In 2014, our ski centers in Karakol topped the ranking of the best mountain resorts among the CIS countries, besides, the National Geographic in 2016 included Kyrgyzstan in the top 12 countries which worth to be visited," the head of government said.
He stressed that as of today the share of tourism in the country amounts to 4.5 percent of GDP.
