"The largest number of foreign tourists in Kyrgyzstan are the citizens of Kazakhstan, they account for 71 percent of the total number of tourists," Director of the Department under the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism Azamat Anarkulov said at the presentation of the Tourism Development Program in Kyrgyzstan for 2016-2020.
According to him, the second place in the number of tourists take the citizens of Russia, there are 13.4 percent of them, CIS citizens account for 7 percent.
"At least 1.224 million foreign citizens came to Kyrgyzstan in 2010, in 2013 - 4.133 million people and in 2015 - 4 million people. The annual growth is 9 percent," the official said.
As the head of the tourism department told, the share of tourism in the country's GDP in 2012 amounted to 14 billion soms, in 2013 - 15.5 billion soms, in 2014 - more than 17 billion, and in 2015 - about 19 billion with an average increase per year by 15 percent of the country's GDP.
"Fixed capital investments in the tourism sector in 2012 amounted to 8.4 billion soms, in 2013 - 11.6 billion soms, in 2014 - 10.6 billion soms, in 2015 - 8.4 billion soms," Azamat Anarkulov told.
