It is offered to create a tourist Mecca for Chinese and Japanese citizens out of Ak-Beshim area (located to the south of Tokmak town - note of 24.kg news agency) in Kyrgyzstan. Representative of the Kyrgyz Association of Tour Operators (KATO) Nikolay Shetnikov said at presentation of Tourism Development Program in Kyrgyzstan for 2016-2020 years.
He also complained that the Kyrgyz Republic is developing adventure tourism in the border areas, but the tourists have to wait up to three months for a pass from the guards. According to him, many countries are not aware of such passes, and adventure tourism visitors have to wait for permission from the Border Service from 1.5 to 3 months.
"There is a government decree, which abolishes border pass for employees of travel agencies, but nothing has been done for the abolishment," Nikolay Shetnikov said.
The representative of the association said that the program on development of tourism in Kyrgyzstan covers all its forms, even though the developed countries concentrate on priorities. "In Germany, 70 percent of the tourism industry is designed for domestic tourists and only 30 - for the foreign," he said.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan has the possibility of turning Ak-Beshim area into a tourist Mecca for Chinese and Japanese citizens. "The great Chinese thinker, poet Li Bai was born there. Tourists from China and Japan could come to us all year round," Nikolay Shetnikov said.
In addition, he suggested, following the example of Russia, to cancel the visa regime for tourists from China. "Last year, only 179 tourists from China visited the country, they are very demanding, we could arrange an elite tourism for them. And you should not confuse them with those tourists, who are sitting in the markets," KATO representative concluded.
