Scorpion Military Camp opens in Tokmok

A new military camp, Scorpion, will be officially opened Friday in Tokmok on the basis of the № 52806 military unit.

The official ceremony will consist of demonstration of newly built barracks and administrative premises, granting of 35 trucks and 10 ambulances. Construction of the camp started in 2007 and was sponsored by the U.S. government under the drug trafficking control project at about $9 million.

The opening is expected to be attended by the Kyrgyz Minister of Defense, Bakytbek Kalyev and the U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Tatiana Gfoeller.

Therewith, the U.S government issued funds for construction of a new surgical unit of the Besh-Kungei military hospital, the opening of which took place on October 14, 2009.
