Detained Russian human rights advocate deported from Kyrgyzstan

Bakhrom Khamroev, a Russian human rights activist, detained by the Kyrgyz special services the day before has been deported from the republic, Vitaly Ponomarev, director of the Central Asian program of the Russian Human Rights Organization Memorial told the news agency 24.kg.

As to Ponomarev, the activist called him from Domodedovo airport and informed that he has been deported from Kyrgyzstan to Moscow. Therewith, Kyrgyz National Security Service officers did not return his camera and a cell phone.

As the news agency 24.kg earlier reported, Bakhrom Khamroev, the well-known Russian human rights activist was detained in Osh on November 18.

Officers of the State National Security Service reportedly arrested Khamroev together with Izzatilla Rakhmatillaev , the other human rights advocate, approximately at 7:30 PM.

According to Aziza Abdurasulova, the leader of Kalym Shamy center, the rightists were held at the Osh office of Radio Liberty.

Bakhrom Khamroev is an active member of Human Rights Center Memorial and a leader of the society of Political Refugees from Central Asia. He is a citizen of Russia and lives in Moscow since 1992.
