Kyrgyzstan to tighten grip over private notaries

Kyrgyzstan will tighten grip over private notaries, the parliamentary committee on constitution legislation and state management decided Tuesday.

“The strict measures will help to uncover low-professional officers. Before, the notary had to pass only one exam, now they will have to pass an interview to define their personal features. To pass the exam a notary officer should have 3 years of working experience and a 6-months training from a practicing lawyer,” Aida Salyanova, state secretary for the Justice Ministry said.

Salyanova noted that private notary officers mostly work in Bishkek, Chui, Osh and Jalalabad oblasts, while in Naryn and Issyk-Kul oblasts their number is negligibly small. “Private notaries should constantly improve their professional skills to meet the toughened requirements,” she said.
