What special will you bring into your New Year celebration?

2009 counts down last days and hours and we are getting ready for welcoming the New Year in. What a year it will be, what do we expect and what do we hope for in 2010? The news agency 24.kg turned to Kyrgyzstanis with a question, what special will they bring into their celebration of the most favorite holiday.

Kurmanbek Bakiev, the President of Kyrgyzstan (information of Almas Turdumamatov, chief of the presidential press service):

At first, the President will traditionally have a holiday dinner with his sons and their families. Then he will probably invite other relatives and close friends to congratulate them on the New Year. Like other Kyrgyzstanis the head of the state will surely spend New Year’s night at home with his family. On January 1st Kurmanbek Bakiev will go hunting. The president will probably manage to get some rest amid a very busy schedule.

Salijan Sharipov, first Kyrgyz astronaut, Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic and Russia:

Every year should be special. I always wish health, prosperity for all relatives and friends. And we should dream so our dreams could come true.

I wish all readers of the news agency 24.kg to believe in their dream and they will come true.

Surely, I also have a dream. I would like to ascend the Everest with the national flag of the Kyrgyz Republic and prove everybody that a person will achieve everything if he strives for a goal.

Galina Shorokhova, a retiree, Bishkek:

I am old already but still believe in miracles. I wish our president would cancel an order of Daniyar Usenov on tariffs’ hike. How will we live? And may the officials keep the 200 soms compensation and pay for heating, gas and hot water.

Kabai Karabekov, member of the Parliament from Ak Zhol party:

Every New Year is special as it is new. Our family likes to meet at a table with a roasted duck and apples.

What special? I think, I will sing songs. Frankly speaking, I have a tin ear and each and all leave the room when I start singing. But the main is that my soul sings.

Bolotbek Borbiev, head of the Central Traffic Safety Department:

First of all, I expect successful implementation of reforms in our service from uniform to improvement of service quality. I think, politeness and cultural behavior of all road users should become a norm in our country. During New Year celebrations all officers will traditionally come to duty in Father Frost’s costumes. They will surely congratulate drivers and pedestrians on the holiday.

Dilbar Ashimbaeva, a well-known Kyrgyz fashion designer, director of the fashion house Dilbar:

I do not want to disappoint you, but there will be nothing special. I do not decorate my house because of my 2-year old baby who actively explores the world and breaks everything that comes into his hands. I have a lot of work, clients, orders. We are preparing for the exhibition EXPO-2010 in Shanghai.

Something special happens with our women. If previously my clients from remote villages came to me in overshoes and old headscarves, now I see stylish, elegant women.

Elmurza Satybaldiev, Defense, Security and Law Order Advisor to the President:

I await nothing special, do not believe in miracles and prefer to achieve everything by myself. I will celebrate the New Year with my family and relatives. Yes, it is my favorite holiday. Perhaps, my presents to the relatives will be special.

Nikolay Bailo, member of the Kyrgyz Parliament from Communist fraction:

I will have nothing special just a small dinner with my family. In general, I am a special man. I do not like all these events, that is why I will go to the mountains on January 1. Yes, I go alone for several hours. We are all different. Happy New Year!
