At least 26 snow-trapped Kyrgyzstanis rescued, one hospitalized with hypothermia

Four avalanches of over 30 thousand cubic meters slipped in Ak-Tal and Toguz-Torou districts due to heavy snows since January 16.

All 32 mountainous serpentines in Naryn region were snowed heavily. As a result, a part of the road between Iyiri-Suu and Ak-Soyul gorges was completely blocked, trapping 26 passengers including four children, in snow.

“The road was successfully cleared up, all of the passengers are in good condition. They were temporary settled in houses of Ak-Kiya residents, Ak-Tal district,” the administration said.

One of the rescued, an 18-year-old girl, was taken to Ak-Tal district hospital with hypothermia.
