Kyrgyzstan profits $2M from education of foreigners annually

Profit of Kyrgyzstan from education of foreigners amounts to $2 million annually. The information was voiced Monday at a round table discussion devoted to the development of private education sector in the republic.

The annual income from stay of a foreign student averages from $2.5 thousand to $5 thousand soms in the republic.

At least 25,000 foreigners study at Kyrgyz higher education institutions at the time, while about 3,000 of them are citizens of non-CIS states. Main part of the students is the Uzbeks (15,329), Kazakhs (4,314), Turks (1, 200), Tajik (1.40 thousand), Turkmen (880), Indians (500) and the Chinese (300).
