Tolekan Ismailova: they want to deport human rights advocates from Osh city (Kyrgyzstan)

29/06-2010 09:18, Bishkek – 24.kg news agency , by Daniyar KARIMOV

“It looks like they want to deport human rights advocates from Osh city to hide real scale of the occurred tragedy”, head of Citizens against Corruption rights center Tolekan Ismailova reported to 24.kg news agency.

She together with another human rights advocate Aziza Abdirasulova is staying in Osh. Yesterday prosecutor’s office called them in question. Mail list about killed in Nariman village gave rise to invitation.

“Call in question became alarming and strange for us”, Tolekan Ismailova says. “It turned out that I am a target in investigation of mass disorders and murders. Investigator for particularly important cases said that he must interrogate us and in cases of finding us guilty they will punish us in accordance to legislation”.

“We think that this is invasion of our rights and impeding our work”, Tolekan Ismailova noted. “It looks like they want to deport us from here to hide real scale of murders happened under authorities connivance”.

“Unfortunately, there was a mistake distorted information about situation in Nariman village during mopping-up operations”, Tolekan Ismailova stressed. “But this mistake was corrected later however even if because of police actions one person died this is crime against mankind anyway”.

Tolekan Ismailova concerns in state policy against human rights advocates. She noted case with human rights advocate Azimzhan Askarov who struggled against tortures in prisons. “He had detailed database about law and enforcement officers who abused human rights. Azimzhan Askarov was accused of killing person later he was indicted for organizing of disorders. This is alarming. It is well-know unfortunately that even witnesses can be accused in Kyrgyzstan”.

“Situation in Osh remains tense”, Tolekan Ismailova stressed. “Bishkek’s decrees doesn’t work here. It seems that Osh became another state”.
