“There is corruption in the country but there are no corrupt officials,” MP Omurbek Tekebayev stated today at the round table conference “Kyrgyzstan after Two Revolutions: Outcomes and Prospects”.
According him, an uncertain situation is formed in the Parliament. “It is unclear who is commanding there. It is necessary to negotiate with large circle in order to carry out reforms. Sometimes even open agreements are not fulfilled. The team of the interim government was weak because it was temporary. Today it is necessary to patch up relations between power branches,” Omurbek Tekebayev explained.
He noted that Kyrgyz elite cardinally changed in Kyrgyzstan after parliamentary elections. “Young people became members of the Government. Only I and several comrades remained in the Parliament among political dinosaurs who don’t lay a key role. Young officials promote old customs. Todays corrupt official is nice, well-educated person, knowing modern methods of work to support own business. Maxim Bakiyev, Aidar Akaev, Iskhak Pirmatov are their bright representatives. But everyone state they don’t violate laws and they are charged with insignificant violations,” Omurbek Tekebayev said.
