Salizhan Sharipov: MP’s statement is blazer

“Statement of the parliament member of Kyrgyzstan Zhyldyzkan Dzholdosheva is blazer,” the first astronaut and hero of Kyrgyzstan and Russia Salizhan Sharipov told 24.kg news agency commenting on her statement that “International Congress of Uzbeks is established in Moscow and Kadyrzhan Batyrov is elected as the Honorary President while Salizhan Sharipov – as the Executive”.

According him, he is founder of many public organizations including Women of Kyrgyzstan, Friendship Union of Russia and Kyrgyzstan. “Let Zhyldyzkan Dzholdisheva not involve me into politics as I am engaged into public affairs. Such information does damage not only to me but to Kyrgyzstanis. It is unclear what her sources of false information are she spreads across the country. Let she feel shameful for that. I can go to law against her. I don’t have words to express my indignation,” said Salizhan Sharipov.

He also noted that such attacks against him are an attempt to involve him into “unclear” ethnic problems. “Let all parliament members and entire Kyrgyzstan know that my great-grandma is Kyrgyz, grandfather is Tajik, and mother is Russian. There is no column “nationality” in my Russian passport. Nobody calls me either Russian or Kyrgyz or Tajik. They call me Kyrgyzstan and I am proud that I was born and grew up in Kyrgyzstan. I don’t discriminate various nationalities. If my achievements and merits before Kyrgyzstan and mankind bother some strange deputies I don’t know what to say. I am doing all my best to keep peace and calm but beyond politics,” Salizhan Sharipov stressed.

The first Kyrgyz astronaut underlined that probably he will write to the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament before going to law. “I am beyond politics. I never violated and won’t violate laws,” Salizhan Sharipov added.

Recall, earlier the President of the country Almazbek Atambayev said at the meeting with students of the Osh State University on February 17 that the first astronaut of Kyrgyzstan Salizhan Sharipov “could be involved into organization of Osh events in June 2010”. The head of the state also said that “a part of Kadyrzhan Batyrov’s property was formalized in the name of Salizhan Sharipov”. Almazbek Atambayev ignored Sharipov’s desire to meet with him in order to clear up the situation. This forced the hero of Kyrgyzstan and Russia to ask MP Akhmatbek Keldibekov to hand over his appeal to the President.

According to MP, “Salizhan Sharipov doesn’t deny that a citizen Batyrova sold him a part of stocks of Dustlik OJSC through a stock exchange. Moreover, at that time these stocks were not burdened by any sanctions for the arrest and there were no restrictions on the donation and sale. He thinks accusations of the President Almazbek Atambayev are groundless”.

The former leader of Uzbek Diaspora in Kyrgyzstan, Kadyrzhan Batyrov, is sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia for organization of ethnic conflict in the south of Kyrgyzstan in June 2010. According to recent information, Sweden granted him political asylum.
