“Escape of Akmat Bakiyev showed that the State service of corrections of Kyrgyzstan needs cardinal reforms,” Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov said at today’s meeting with former head of the State service of corrections Sheishenbek Baizakov.

The Information Policy Department under the Government Office reports that the head of the Government told Sheishenbek Baizakov that he always supported his efforts to establish order in the penitentiary system of the republic. “But escape of the convicted Akmat Bakiyev showed that it is needed to do much to improve the situation in the system. Well, the incident is not finished yet but I think you as a professional don’t feel good holding your position after the incident,” Prime Minister is quoted.

As noted, the head of the Government wished success a new chief of the State service of corrections Alikbek Mamyrkulov. A decree on his appointment to the post was signed today.

Recall, Alikbek Mamyrkulov held position of Deputy Director of the Department of Defence, Legal Order and Emergency Situations under the Government Office before appointment to the post.
