Seeking pleasure haven

Recently, labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan working in Russia published an open letter in Internet. They appealed to parents who have daughters gone for work abroad to pay attention on lewd life of their daughter abroad. Far away from home Kyrgyz girls behave unacceptable… “Recently we saw how 17-18 years old girls with their spoiled girlfriends came to café accompanied by 40-50 years old Azerbaijani men. It is mass phenomenon!” crying out Kyrgyz working migrants in the letter.

In pursuit happiness

We wrote enough about difficult conditions of working migrants but we didn’t write about our women. There are not only women who are working hard in order to earn money but women who sell their bodies. Certainly, there are different situations and it would be wrong to one or two episodes a tendency. However, there are some common traits.

There is a video in Internet. On this video Kyrgyz young men in Russia are deriding at Kyrgyz woman. Such brutal interrogation provoked strong disputes in society. Crisis Centers Association wrote an address demanding to detain people participating in such crime.

The Association Head Alexandra Eliferenko considers: the state should be ashamed that the most part of republican budget is earned by working migrants. “The state didn’t do anything in order to stop this torrent. About 83 per cent of our women are being violated in families. Again, nothing is done,” she considers.

Amateur film directors

Exact number of prostitutes is unknown in Kyrgyzstan. According Youth Labor and Employment Ministry’s information there are about 200K unemployed in the republic. It can be assumed that one-third of them are prostitutes. So, what motives a girl had to become a prostitute?

Specialist in this sphere are united: first of all social and economic conditions, poverty, money for family and herself. The state is main culprit of all this as it doesn’t pay attention to employment of Kyrgyz youth.

Erkin El youth movement head Mavlyan Askarbekov considers that large number sex-services is a direct consequence of Government’s inaction. “The 100 days reform program doesn’t include creation of employment for youth,” he says.

The movement leader admits prostitution popularity among Kyrgyz girls is “a distorted reflection of situation in the country”. “Youth self-realization program absents in the country. The second, our youth is under Western ideology which corrupts girls’ mind”.

Love is serious business

It is known that world’s sex service bring millions of dollars and Kyrgyzstan is not some exception. The service is developing: own infrastructure (saunas, night clubs with special rooms, home delivery) and personnel (women, guards, protection of police and gangs). This business has its own hierarchy. Issue of prostitution legalization was raised in 2008, and deputies, NGO and ministers were often talking about it.

Supporters of such idea say that it could help to guarantee women rights as they are under constant violence from police, clients and gigolos. Prostitutes’ advocates consider that legalization could guarantee social guarantees: working experience, unions, medical service and insurance. It was predictable that such initiative failed.

Despite its illegal status prostitution became a real industry in independent Kyrgyzstan and this industry includes thousands of people. Unfortunately, we can’t say about its destruction or crisis in near future because too many influential people earn money on it.

Moral portrait

There different personalities among prostitutes: kind and angry, funny and sad, grasping and simpletons… Most of them arrived to conquer the capital (Bishkek). Most of them confessed that poverty made them to become prostitute. But few of them were born for this. They manage to combine prostitution with official work and study at university. Some of them even have children and husbands. And some curious episodes occur: student found his colleague in sauna and after sex client suddenly hear a story about prostitute’s children and husband…

The author had a conversation with taxi driver and he told a lot of brothels is Bishkek and its girls are his loyal clients. “I was driving at one of such places and a very fabulous and good-looking girl came out. I was surprised and asked a direction and she named an address of one of the most respectable universities. She is very hard-worker,” said a taxi driver with sad voice.

Some of these girls are from wealthy families. They are very successful but unsatisfied in sexual life. So, they are realizing its sexual desires in such way. Such “shy” girls are visiting special web-sites and chats in order to find a sexual partner. You can find any girl on this site.

Also, prices on this market vary. You can buy a prostitute for an hour, for night in glamorous hotel and even exotic service. Anything can be done for money! Dollars are desirable!

Know our girls!

Not all prostitutes do it by their own will. Some of them were tricked and work forcefully in Kyrgyzstan and abroad.

There is no exact information about number of sex-slaves and amounts of sex traffic. But Kyrgyzstan has already become famous due to export of women (age up to 25).

According coordinator of Human Trafficking Prevention Program of IOM (International Organization for Migration) in Kyrgyzstan Zhanna Salieva, 60 women-victims of slaves returned to Kyrgyzstan due to the program in 2011. “Human trafficking schemes are standard: person is being attracted by promises easy and save money. Recruiters make all necessary documents, transport man and take his documents. After that a man is being sold. Such victims suffer from violence, drug addiction, HIV/AIDS,” says Zhanna Salieva.

As experts of IOM note, currently there are many slaves from Kyrgyzstan in the world. Most of them work illegally. “According international researches, modern slavery brings $20B annually. Profits from this business are on the 3rd place after drug and weapon sales,” said the program coordinator.

Made in KG

According experts, main dimensions of sex trafficking from Kyrgyzstan lead to Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey and United Arab Emirates (UAE). The author managed to speak with prostitutes working in UAE. “Export” to this country was developed for long time ago. “Working visa is being made in Kyrgyzstan for us and later we are working for it too. Them we receive some per cent from each order. Only inconvenience is that our documents remain at our master’s home and we always afraid to be caught by local police. Some girls are being tricked and they have to go to police in order to return home,” said a girl named Madina.

Living in UAE the author discovered another unpleasant thing: Kyrgyz girls who work on good and legal job abroad are trying to build relations with foreigners. Kyrgyz guy are not good enough for them as he can only work abroad if he want better life. Prospects are wider with foreigner who can marry you or at least become a sponsor.

Is it my fault…

Specialists note, that non-commercial prostitution is rather “popular” among Kyrgyz women. Unfortunately, they look at their bodies as a good commodity which can be sold for solution of some issues and problems (good grades, successful job interview, travel and shopping).

Everyone can use an excuse called hard-life-circumstances and girls are using it very often. It is sad that morality decay in Kyrgyzstan is happening and women are ready to sell themselves. And such dirt can’t be washed out forever.
