“I didn’t see the rally on April 7, 2010 near Forum building in the capital of Kyrgyzstan; there were people out of uniform who pelted us with stones,” the chief of 5th southern Division of Alfa Special Forces Department, Avaz Nurmatov, told the court on April events today.
According him, 19 officers of the southern division arrived in Bishkek from Osh city; five of them got injuries when participants of events attacked them. “They stayed in a car to defend weapon and personnel baggage; they were attacked and beaten up,” said the witness.
He noted that officers of Special Rapid Response Unit (SOBR) arrived together with them from the southern capital. “They were also armed but we departed every which way in the airport,” Avaz Nurmatov added.
Recall, the court hearing on April 7 events, when the second president of the republic was toppled, is being held at the Department under Penitentiary System Security and Convoy under the State service of corrections under the Government. Total number of defendants is 28 including former high-ranking officials. They are charged with murder of two and more people, abuse of office and leaving the duty station. Besides, officers of Alfa and Arstan special units are charged with loss of weapon.
