“There is inconformity in NGO and international organizations activities in Kyrgyzstan,” said Multicultural Education civic organization head Lira Karagulova on today’s panel discussion Conflicts in Kyrgyzstan: How to Increase Tolerance in Society.
According her, the tragic events in the South Kyrgyzstan of 2010 showed that the country is not ready for such challenges. “Kyrgyzstan has small potential in sphere of peace and conflict studies. NGO are developing projects and start knuckle under their donors. It is unknown what consequences will be as NGO don’t follow their own principles,” she said.
She noted, there is a lack of conflict and mediation experts. Discussion on mediation necessity is holding on all levels. Who teach professionals in this sphere? In most cases NGO and international organizations are not specialists in this field. There is no a joint school for such training. This field is being studied by individuals and organizations with money,” said the civic organization leader.
“Many non-governmental organizations work on local level (in different regions of the republic). There is no any information what is going there. We need to coordinate efforts of NGO and international organizations for personnel trainings and panel discussions arrangement,” she concluded.
