“In Kyrgyzstan, there is no mechanism for dissolution of the Judges Selection Council,” its chairman Shamaral Maichiyev told journalists today.

According to him, even if all 23 members are excluded and one chairman is left, the council will be recruited and work again. “Nobody can dissolve us. It’s another matter that we can announce a competition to recruit for local courts, Constitutional Chamber of Supreme Court, because there is no law on the status of judges, which prescribes the selection rules. As soon as the law is adopted, we will bring the documents into compliance and will announce a competition,” Shamaral Maichiyev said.

He added that he would try the competition to be held in summer in order not to deprive the contenders for places in the panel of judges of holiday season.
