Public officers evade electricity bills in Kyrgyzstan – Saparbek Argymbaev

“Public officers evade electricity bills in Kyrgyzstan,” the member of Board of Severelectro OJSC, Saparbek Argymbaev, said at today’s panel discussion “Fight against corruption in energy sector”.

He says it is hard to force ordinary citizens to pay electricity bills in time when officials and businessmen find loopholes not to pay. “One of debtors is the head of the Audit Chamber Sabyrbek Moldokulov. He owes 141, 000 soms for electricity. Another influential businessman Mr. Moldogaziev, the former head of Moskovsky district, owes us 26, 900 soms but we cannot collect the debt because they call us from the Prosecutor General’s Office and ask us to connect him to electric supply. Besides, a certain Mr. Sulaimanov, the officer of the Prosecutor General’s Office, doesn’t pay for electricity also and his debt is 29, 346 soms,” Saparbek Argymbaev explained.

He noted that officers of the National Security Service and parliament members are on the list of non-payers too.
