In Kyrgyzstan, the Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society thinks the Parliament takes absurd stand by refusing to say names of MPs missing sessions arguing that this is “a secret of their private life”.

The Coalition’s lawyers say today the city court has considered the complaint of the human rights organization about utterance of representative if the Parliament concerning disclosure of names of MPs missing regularly sessions. “Firstly, we applied to Interdistrict court but a judge Bermet Karygulova supported the Parliament having confirmed that the Parliament has right not to disclose names of truants as this is confidential information. But this is nonsense. The Parliament is an open body and electors have a right to know how MPs work,” the lawyers note.

The Coalition emphasizes that the city court will pass judgment on May 11.
