Kyrgyz film "Sutak" (celestial camping ground) of Kyrgyz director Mirlan Abdykalykov will compete in the international competition program of the 27th Film Festival in Palm Springs (USA), which will be held in California (USA) on January 1-11, 2016, an employee of the studio "Aitysh film" Cholpon Idrisova said to 24.kg news agency.
According to her, "Sutak" is included in the competition program, in which 40 films will compete for the main prize of Federation Internationale de la presse cinematographique, which are the main contenders for the Oscar in the category "Best Foreign Language Film."
The film "Sutak" is the debut feature project directed by Mirlan Abdykalykov. It tells the story of a family of nomads. The main characters - the old man Tabyldy, his wife Karachach, their daughter-in-law Shaiyr and seven-year old granddaughter Umsunay. After her husband's death Shaiyr decided to stay with his parents because of deep affection and unconditional love for his native land. Their life goes on in a measured line, while meteorologist Ermek appears in the Shaiyr's life. The shooting took place in the Turgen gorge in the Issyk-Kul oblast.
Recall, in early October 2015, the first film "Sutak" was submitted by Kyrgyzstan on competition film award "Oscar-2016."
