Scholarly book, which was prepared and published in Kyrgyzstan, was awarded a gold medal. The reward arrived in Bishkek, editor in chief of New Literature of Kyrgyzstan electronic library Oleg Bondarenko informed 24.kg news agency.
According to him, monograph "Physical geography of Kyrgyzstan", prepared and published by researchers of the Geography Department of the Geology Institute under the National Academy of Sciences under the leadership of the President of the Kyrgyz Geographical Society Salamat Alamanov got a gold medal and diploma of the 28th International Book Fair (Exhibition Center, Moscow, September 2015.)
It covers the history and current state of the nature of Kyrgyzstan research. It describes geographical patterns of geological structure and topography sites. On the basis of long-term observations, it characterizes climatic and hydrological conditions of the country. It gives descriptions of the geography of glacierization, soil and vegetation, fauna. The book ends with the landscape geography, assessment of the human impact on them and characteristics of specially protected areas of the Kyrgyz Republic.
At least 600 pages of text are illustrated with 48 maps, 85 diagrams and photographs, 99 tables.
"The award was announced in the fall of 2015 but it arrived in Bishkek only today," Oleg Bondarenko told.
