The monument to Sooronbay Zhusuev was unveiled today on Ala-Archa cemetery with participation of the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov. Information Policy Department of the government's executive office reported.
"Sooronbay Zhusuev made an enormous contribution to the development of Kyrgyz literature, by his love for the country he was an example of faithful service to it for everybody," Sooronbay Jeenbekov said.
Sooronbay Zhusuev his entire lifetime was engaged in creative work, left a rich spiritual heritage, published more than 70 collections of his poems. More than 300 poems were set by composers to music and gained widespread popularity.
People's poet, Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War Sooronbay Zhusuev died at the age of 91 on February 4, 2016.
