Tajikistan is interested in mining, tourism and hydro-electric power stations of KR, the deputy prime minister of Tajikistan Azim Ibrokhim said today at a meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik intergovernmental commission.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have a sound legal base, extensive experience in resolution of various issues in a positive and mutually beneficial manner, as well as a number of cooperation mechanisms. An intergovernmental commission plays an important role in this process. In this case, at this stage of relations Azim Ibrokhim considers it important to strengthen economic cooperation.
Tajikistan considers hydropower, mining, light industry, food, chemical and processing industry, tourism, agriculture sector promising for the development of economic relations. Azim Ibrokhim believes that the possibilities in this direction are not used at full, even though all the conditions for it exist.
"An analysis of the trade structure shows that we have a wide potential. It is necessary to increase and multiply it. With common borders and communications, we may well use the transit potential. This will provide us with access to the other countries in the region," Azim Ibrokhim noted.
Also, the official stressed that compared to the last meeting of the commission, the number of transport that makes a common border crossing, increased significantly.
He concluded that the expansion of transport corridors will contribute not only to economic growth of the two states, but also the development of the regional cooperation process.
