"Some voters are ready to vote for a cash reward during the local councils'elections. It is assumed that the parties are likely to take advantage of this opportunity," the head of the Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society Azamat Adilov told today at a press conference.
According to him, it will be difficult to register the facts of bribery, like it was in the past elections: the electoral legislation lacks clear mechanisms of accountability for bribery of voters. "During the last elections, the citizens have witnessed a widespread bribery, and although there were numerous signals about the distribution of money and goods by some parties, no one was brought to justice in the end. Coalition expresses concern at the fact that such practices may then lead to an increase in voters' distrust in the elected authorities," Azamat Adilov said.
It should be noted that the local councils' elections will take place in some towns and villages on March 27. The general election will be held in the fall of 2016.
