Radioactive cargo detained in Kyrgyzstan, the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
According to it, when register a freight train, following the route Merke (Kazakhstan) - Alamudun (Kyrgyzstan), at a checkpoint "Kaindy-zheleznodorozhnyi" the radiation portal activated.
Border guards stopped the train and held additional radiation control, during which it was revealed that the radiation level exceeds the permitted limit. To ensure the safety the freight train was sent to a designated area at the railway station.
It was found that the goods (ball mill, spray dryer, refractory bricks) with a total weight of 37 tones were transported from China to Kyrgyzstan through Kazakhstan.
After the paperwork the freight train was transferred to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergency Situations for further proceedings.
