2 cops hurt in shoot-out in Bishkek suburbs

The policemen were taken to the Chui regional hospital with gunshot chest wounds. Their state is stable now.

The incident happened on the detour road in suburbs of Bishkek on March 17, 2009 approximately at 10:35 pm. The officers of the night patrol stopped an allegedly wanted by police Audi 100. When the policemen asked for documents, the driver has shown the

Police Major card, which turned out to be fake.

There were two other Asian-looking men at the age of 30-35 years in the car who introduced themselves as police officers but did not show the cards. After that the strangers opened fire on the police officers and tried to escape. The policemen had to open a return fire, the press service reported.

The car search revealed and confiscated an AKSU sub-machine gun without a loading case, a Saiga gun with a removed number, loaded cases of AKSU sub-machine gun and Saiga gun, a suppressor, two black masks, 9 pairs of gloves, a knife, a police baton, a sticky tape and several car plates.

Investigation is ongoing.
