The meeting of the Prime Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in narrow format began in Bishkek. The visit of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan coincided with his participation in the summit of CIS Prime Ministers, which was held in the capital in the morning.
It is expected that the sides will discuss economic ties and investment, trade and economic cooperation, energy, cooperation in transport, communications and cross-border cooperation. Prime Ministers will once again touch upon the problematic issues, some of which have been already resolved, for example, the ban on the import of Kyrgyz potatoes to Kazakhstan or the term of stay of our citizens in the neighboring country. Recall, ban on potato imports was lifted in exchange for a promise to deliver a quality product.
The second question is still not fully resolved. Earlier, Kazakhstan has informed that the period of stay of foreign nationals without registration, including Kyrgyzstanis, in Kazakhstan will be reduced up to five days. This caused resentment in Kyrgyzstan. The officials even offered to introduce a reciprocal measure for citizens of Kazakhstan, arriving in Kyrgyzstan. There were arguments that such measures are unacceptable in terms of Eurasian integration. As a result, Kazakhstan submitted to the Parliament an agreement on the period of stay of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the territory of the two states for consideration. The document permits the citizens of Kyrgyzstan to stay in the neighboring country without registration up to 30 days.
