Uzbekistan has started preparations for the funeral of President Islam Karimov, Fergana news agency reported.
According to it, in Samarkand - the homeland of the first president of independent Uzbekistan Islam Karimov - preparation for his funeral is being held. The agency states that the Uzbek leader would be buried in the cemetery of Samarkand, adjacent to the famous architectural and historical monument of Shah-i-Zinda. There the two brothers and mother of Islam Karimov sleep.
But the death of the permanent President of Uzbekistan hasn't been officially announced yet. This is expected to be done today, and Karimov will be buried tomorrow. Plane with his body already flew from Tashkent to Samarkand. It is expected that representatives of top leaders of a number of the CIS countries and abroad will arrive in Uzbekistan on September 2 and 3 to participate in the funeral. Members of delegations are unknown yet.
"Previously, about 8 p.m. Moscow time, the facebook group "Health to Karimov" posted photographs of Samarkand's preparations for some kind of celebration or mourning, as well as post of the administrator of the group that "heart-lung machine will be turned off today," and soon the funeral of Islam Karimov will be held in the hometown of the former President. At the same time "Ozodlik" (Uzbek service of Radio Liberty) reported that Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyayev arrived in Samarkand, Fergana writes.
The first reports of stroke of the head of Uzbekistan appeared on August 28. The next day, Fergana reported that Islam Karimov had died of a brain hemorrhage at 3.35 p.m. local time.
