Kyrgyzstan got about 300 mln soms in fines for traffic rules violations in 2015. The Interior Minister of Kyrgyzstan Melis Turganbayev said today at a meeting of Respublika-Ata-Zhurt faction.
The minister expressed the hope that a half of the amount that brings the division of his ministry will be spent on the development of Safe City project. "That's not good enough to say all the time that there is no money. The money of the state should work for the good of the state," Melis Turganbaev said.
He added that the agency is negotiating with the Bishkek Mayor's Office on the schemes of implementation of this project. "We plan to offer spending a certain percentage of the fines that will come from Safe City project on the purchase of new equipment and gradually to equip the entire city with cameras," Melis Turganbaev said.
He also added that cooperation with representatives of China, who have already expressed their willingness to assist and help, is being discussed at the time.
Deputy Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Karmyshakov said that the government has decided to allocate part of the funds (30 million soms) of the penalties that came from the work of traffic police for the implementation of Safe City project. "Just give at least those 30 million soms, which you had to give last year, return the debt," Melis Turganbaev said in response.
