The President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev asks the initiators of the bill on amendments to the Constitution to revoke it. It is reported by Department of Information Policy of the President's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the data, he considered that there is not enough time for discussing amendments to the Constitution and offers the leaders of the three factions to withdraw the bill.
The letter of the head of the state in the name of deputies of the Parliament Felix Kulov, Omurbek Tekebayev and Chynybai Tursunbekov states: "While expressing sincere gratitude for hard work on improving the legislation and desire to strengthen the statehood of Kyrgyzstan, I still urge you to return to the issue of appropriateness of amending the current Constitution in anticipation of the approaching parliamentary elections."
The President stresses that the work done by MPs on analysis of the effectiveness of individual provisions of the Basic Law deserves appreciation. "Preliminary discussion of amendments to your bill showed strong support of the majority of its proposals from the expert community and voters of Kyrgyzstan. Especially in the part of removal of artificial barriers on the way of creating a sustainable system of interaction between branches of government, improvement of credibility of the people, strengthening of legitimacy and respect for the rights of ordinary citizens." At the same time, according to the president, some proposals of the bill caused heated debates in society and lack of time for preliminary discussion of the draft law is obvious.
"For five years of our joint work, we have repeatedly found difficult, but adjusted solutions of problems facing the country. I am convinced that in the upcoming parliamentary elections, you and voters will be able to analyze the situation more deeply and come back to these initiatives in the Parliament of new convocation," Almazbek Atambaev adds.
