Ak-Zhol only clears 0.5 percent threshold

17/12-2007 13:02, Bishkek – News Agency “24.kg”

With nearly 77.19 percent of ballots counted at 10.30 a.m. as of December 17, Ak Zhol party only will get into the single-chamber legislature. It is the only party which has cleared a 0.5 percent threshold, Central Election Commission informed the news agency "24.kg".

Ata-Meken Socialist Party with 9.7percent failed to overcome 0.5 percent threshold in Osh oblast (3,103), Osh City (301) and Batken oblast (3,152). 0.5 percent threshold implies a party should win over 13 thousand of votes.

The Central Election Commission claimed the other parties following Ata-Meken failed to clear 0.5 percent threshold correspondingly. The situation is common in "all oblasts of Kyrgyzstan".

The Kyrgyz Supreme Court will consider a complaint of the Ak Zhol National Party challenging CEC Regulation on the 0.5 percent threshold on December18.
