Musaev: Kyrgyzstan should reduce number of higher education institutions

Kyrgyzstan needs to reduce number of higher education institutions and its branches, Abdylda Musaev, Education and Science Minister of Kyrgyzstan said at session of the Education, Science, Culture and Sports Committee Tuesday.

All regions of the country have a large number of higher education institutions, which provide educational services. “But quality of education leaves a lot to be desired. Many of the branches lack appropriate material and technical basis. Therefore, those educational institutions which failed license requirements should be closed,” Musaev said.

In minister’s opinion, the decision will surely arouse indignation of public and cause legal actions. “But we are ready for it to impose order in education sphere,” the minister added.
