IMF grants Kyrgyzstan $337.5M for 17 years of cooperation

The International Monetary Fund granted Kyrgyzstan $337.5 million for 17 years of cooperation, parliamentary press service reported the results of the Parliament Speaker Zainidin Kurmanov’s meeting with Nadeem Ilahi, Chief of the International Monetary Fund’s Middle East and Central Asia Department.

The speaker outlined necessity of an effective cooperation in the post-crisis period. “In course of the meeting, Kurmanov suggested discussion of restructuring and possible remission of Kyrgyzstan’s debts to IMF,” the press service added.

At the time the fund is reportedly working with the Kyrgyz government on short-term, medium-term and long-term country development programs.

The sides have discussed maintenance of the republican energy sector and socially vulnerable population amid utility hikes.
