Constitutional Court receives 132 recourses in 2009

Constitutional Court of Kyrgyzstan received 132 recourses in 2009, Svetlana Sydykova, Head of the Kyrgyz Constitutional Court said Monday at a session of Defense, Law Order, Legal Issues and Corruption Control Committee of the Parliament.

The court has delivered judgments on 12 claims, stopped legal proceedings on three cases, denied 22 claims and returned two recourses to their claimants, while six other claims are prepared for consideration at the time. “Some of the claims were denied as being beyond competence of the Constitutional Court or failing to meet form and content of legally fixed requirements,” Sydykova said.

Besides, increase in number of claims was reportedly traced for the period in the republic. “In 2009 the court received 86 recourses that is 21.1 percent more, compared to 2008. The majority of them relates to non-fulfillment of court decisions, illegality of judges’ actions, review of judicial acts and order of judges prosecution. At least nine claims for illegality of other officers, six applications for official interpretation of constitutional norms, and 24 other claims were received in 2009,” she added.
