Kyrgyz parliamentarian to suggest special tax for mobile operators

Kyrgyz parliamentarian Askarbek Shadiev suggests to impose special tax for mobile operators, he said Tuesday during Budget and Finance Committee’s session.

The tax entered in force since the 1st of January will hit subscribers badly. The total profit of mobile operators reached about 15 billion in 2009. Therewith, a need to make them pay more taxes arises in order to force them increase their tariffs. In turn, Kyrgyzstanis will use mobile services more rare. ”That is the way we save money of our citizens,” he said.

There is no natural monopolist for mobile operators, thus we have our hands tied. “The operators agree with each other, and play there own game,” he underlined.
