Prosecution demands four years of suspended sentence for ex-Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan

The prosecution demands to criminate ex-Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov to 4 years of suspended sentence with postponement of execution of judgment.

As of 26 February, 2010, the Pevomai district court held a regular meeting on ex-Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov issue. The ex-head of foreign policy department was accused of complicity in the assassination of a Turkish citizen, Servet Cetin in Talas city. The military's top brass said a gun belonging to Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov had been used in the murder in 2007. Besides that, the state prosecutor’s office charged Dzhekshenkulov with abuse of power (estimated damage 690,000 som) during his tenure as a foreign minister.

The sides have already opened the debates. The prosecutor’s office dismissed a charge toward the ex-Minister due to the absence of components of crime in the murder of Turkish businessman.

In addition the prosecutor’s office continue insisting on abuse of power by Dzhekshenkulov during his tenure as a Minister, supposedly that he has renewed all doors in the department’s building thereby has damaged to the State Enterprise Kyrgyzdipservice.

The prosecutor’s office demands to sentence the principal on the murder case – Ilyas Abdykadyrov to twenty years of imprisonment.

The debates will be open on 1 March, 2010, than the court will hear last plea and return a verdict.
